I came across Urban Lily Yoga by reading a friend’s status update on facebook and decided to give it a try, especially because it was so close to my home, giving me the first class for free and a package of $100 for 10 classes. What a great value for the level of expertise these teachers have. AND it is so hard to find yoga classes from 10am -3pm in the afternoon!!!
They have free parking in the back lot. The owner Elinore is super sweet, friendly and has the cutest contagious laugh. She has managed to decorate the studio so well that you feel like you are going into someone’s living room. Lots of beautifully framed photographs of all things inspirational. Little boutique of jewelry, scarves, hats, yoga clothes, mats & accessories add to the warmth of the lounging area. I love how she displays all the beautiful female teachers’ “headhshots” as soon as you walk in. Teachers deserve all the love!
Now onto my first class teacher Ashley. She managed to give much needed adjustments during the class. I have been practicing yoga for over 10 years and rarely do I find a teacher who can give me ever so slight adjustments that make me feel the pose in a totally different way. She encourages and speaks very articulately. She is also very creative in her sequences. I managed to do an advanced pose that I have never done before because I immediately trusted her. She can demonstrate as she talks and she is truly an inspiration.
Elinore was there in the class too and I could tell, she is so passionate about yoga. She also inspired me as she showed such ease in getting into and out of poses that are very advanced!
I also loved the fact that the class was a true “Vinyasa 2/3″! A lot of studios do not stick to the level that is advertised.
I have attended a few more classes since I first wrote this review and have even more amazing things to say about this studio. Elinore’s classes are truly inspirational. She has a knack of bringing the best out of her students. The sequences are innovative and fun. She totally gave me the confidence to get into poses that I have never tried before and I feel comfortably sore in all the right places ; ) Her assisting enables me to get deeper into my poses with a slight swedish massage feel. Her instructions of ever so slight tweaking of the hips or the legs makes a big difference. Moreover, she plays really good music.
I almost feel like I am over doing the compliments but I promise this is really how I feel!
All in all, I absolutely think you should give this studio a try!!!! It’s the best studio I have come across in a long long time.
See you in class! –Didi Wong

I started taking Yoga classes with Elinore at Rising Lotus and found her style and energy to be the BEST. Now that she has her own place opened up and its in my neighborhood – it doesn’t make sense to go anywhere else. She is very attentive to each student individually. Their prices are comprable to other Yoga Studios in the Valley but since they are new they have GREAT Deals Going on right now! Check out their website for all the different options –July Smith

This place is AWESOME. It just opened up so I figured I’d give it a try. Intimate, wonderful atmosphere, super friendly management, knowledgeable teachers, and the classes are diverse and fun! I’ve been a few times now, nice having a good yoga studio in my part of town! I’m definitely hooked. –Josh G

Many styles and forms of yoga and all the instructors are very knowledgeable AND they take the time to teach correct postures as well as one on one time with each student in their class. They are so encouraging and helpful you don’t notice at first they believe in sweat equity yoga; you really work your butt off. A really good studio that offers a mixture of classes, which suits me, fine as I like to mix up my workout.

I started to taking classes with Elinore at Rising Lotus yoga a couple of years ago and instantly loved her style. She is bubbly, friendly, and attentive. Every class is unique and she takes her time with each student, really getting attuned to what they need. I have found that it is very difficult to find teachers in L.A. that really spend the extra time and generally show interest in students’ progress. I was so sad initially when I no longer saw Elinore at Rising Lotus yoga but it was because she had opened her own studio! Urban Lily Yoga is a beautiful little yoga haven in the valley. Elinore has brought her own eclectic style to the space and there is beautiful antique looking furniture, beautiful knit items for sale, gorgeous pictures on the wall, etc. The space feels very welcoming. You walk in and you are greeted behind the desk where you pay before you open the door and walk down the hallway to your class. The only gripe is that the prices are a little more expensive, $17/class but they make up for it with more options for community classes than a lot of other nearby studios. I had an amazing class with Elinore that I took one Saturday morning at 10:30am. There weren’t many people in the class so I got lots of attention. I have been having problems with my shoulder and didn’t realize that my upper back was so tight. I had pondered getting a massage it was so bad. By the end of the class it was feeling a lot better and Elinore sent me home with some poses to work on to keep my upper back more open. Definitely recommend this studio and can’t wait to try out more teachers!! –Theresa C.

After driving passed the studio on the way home as they built it I stopped by for a class the week it opened. As a beginning yoga practitioner they have plenty of classes for me as well as more advanced people. Even with it being their first week in business there was no fuss and bother; the class began and ended on time. I was pleasantly surprised with the intimate space and attentive instructors.–Abby A.
